Steelhead Guide Trips
Fishhawk Home Page
Drift boat trips often produce limit catches of fish from 6 to 20 lbs. The scenic beauty and clear waters add to this escape from "business as usual". Steelhead run from December through March. Our comfortable boats can hold up to three and all gear and tackle are provided. The boat is positioned away from holding fish and casts are made off the side. The bait moves along the bottom and picked up by waiting fish  The winter rains fill the small coastal streams and create a fun ride down the river.

A day's drift can cover 10 miles and assures you will encounter prime holding spots for winter run steelhead. Often between winter storms the weather can be sunny and warm, making the river trip alone an enjoyable experience.

SSteelheadteelhead are hatched in the spring and spend 1-2 years in the river before migrating down stream in the fall to enter the ocean. While at sea for 2-5 years, the fish migrate up to 3,000 miles to the coast of Japan feeding on schools of small fish such as anchovies. Capturing their prey requires strength and speed which becomes obvious when returning fish are hooked as they travel upriver to spawn.

Steelhead are one of the most elusive yet prized fish in the world.  Many anglers have tried and failed to bring one of these fighting fish to the shore or the boat. Their long runs and many jumps and turns excite even the most experienced angler.
